Team Set! How Jamaica Can Get Pass The Critics. Frankly, I am the least surprised with all the negative press that Jamaicas Track and Field has been getting over the last few months amidst the stellar performance of our athletes at the Junior & the Senior Level. Sometimes I shake my head just laughing as I observe how careful they are in leaving out critical pieces of information in their reporting so that the readers can form their own opinions, and the kind of opinions that they really want the readers to have but they them self cannot come out and say. But as I always say, if we as a people survived Hurricane Gilbert, we will survive this! One of the things that the world does not understand is the Jamaican Spirit. They have no clue. They dont understand how our people continue to excel in almost every sphere and that the only mitigating factor to a total dominance has been our political system and how certain decisions have stymied our success. But its not our fault they havent been tracking our success. Their own arrogance as it relates to Third-World nations is part of why they are unwilling to accept that it is possible for people with lesser resources, smaller or no budget, no high tech labs (until techniquelab) can become a world beater. What we certainly can take blame for, is not preparing ourselves for success and the scepticism that many sour losers have of their fancied rivals. But hear what, we pressing on! We moving forward! We going to get this right, because, there is only one place on the earth called Jamaica. Read our history Mr Dick Pound, and see where the Slave masters got their first defeat! Go read about the role we played in getting rid of Apartheid in South Africa. Go read about our artists like Bob Marley. Go study our Track and Field history and then give me a call and let me teach you a thing or two. Because as much as you will try, long after you leave this earth, Jamaica will still be a power to deal with in Global Track and Field. A matter of fact, we have our eyes on the #1 Place and we going for it! Try all you want you cant kill the Jamaican spirit, your actions only put fuel to the fire that is burning deep in our souls!
