Team Singapore, comprising youths from ITE and the five Polytechnics, has performed exceptionally well at the 42nd WorldSkills Competition (the Olympics of Skills) held at Leipzig, Germany, from 3 to 6 July 2013, scoring 3 Golds, 2 Silvers and 9 Medallions for Excellence. The 3 Golds are for Beauty Therapy, Health and Social Care and IT Network Systems Administration. For this outstanding result, Singapore is ranked 7th based on Gold Medal haul after Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, Austria, Japan and Brazil. For the second time, an ITE competitor has won a Gold Medal at the WorldSkills Competition. She is Catherine Boey Xiao Wei, who competed in the Beauty Therapy skills category. This is a consecutive win in this category for Singapore and ITE, with the first Gold Medal won at WorldSkills London 2011
