Tech rehearsals for the 14th annual SKETCHBOOK: 2049 starts - TopicsExpress

Tech rehearsals for the 14th annual SKETCHBOOK: 2049 starts tonight. In Jan. 2000, we produced the first one. This year, we will break the 200 mark for world premiere short plays that have launched careers, collaborations and COLLABORACTION, and we did it our way (music, art, short bursts, pushing the form, the audience, exploring the possibilities of a theatre festival) . We have been graced by the immense talent, heart and passion of hundreds of theatre artists who have converged to create a seeing place where we can wrestle with our identity as a people, laugh, cry, ponder and cultivate a better future. We have also been propped up by immense generosity from all sides of the Chicago community (artists, donors, volunteers, sponsors, funders, audience members!, other Chicago theatres, businesses and the many people who have spent time in the Trenches of SKETCHBOOK production). Thank you to all the amazing people who have given a piece of their life to keep the flame going, so that in Chicago in 2014, new artists can stand in front of the campfire, open up their souls and leave their mark.
