Technique Tuesday: The push up (building upon the lowering aspect). Push ups, when done correctly, can help build upper body strength. It is a body weight technique that can be done anywhere. Easy but effective. The truth is, just like the women we train in our gym, most women are less dominant in strength in their upper body as opposed to their lower body. The exercise seen in the video builds upon the very first part of a push up. The lowering of the chest onto the ground or in this case the Barbell. Because what good is doing a push up if the first part looks shitty?!? To start, you set up in a normal push up position. Grip the bar nice and tight. Take in a belly full of air. Then lower your chest down to the bar. THAT IS ALL (for now, until you get stronger in the technique). Reset and repeat for 10 reps. Notice that our student in the video keeps her elbows in close to her body all the way down to the bar. We like this technique at because it is less stressful on the shoulders as opposed to doing it with the elbow chicken winging. Follow us for more posts like this!
