Technology sucks. A DVD could resume from where you stopped it but a BluRay always goes right back to the start of the disc. A DVD player worked on any television with AV inputs, which was just about every TV made since 1990 but a BluRay player needs a special connection. DVD players put out surround sound or at least stereo sound, allowing you to use it on any amplifier made since about 1957. BluRay? You need a whole new amplifier with a special input. I spent less than $100 on my BluRay player but to use it properly, I need to spend about $2,000 more?
