Tectonic Plates Shifting - Weeks ago while the DUARDO FAMILY was very much still mourning the huge loss of their Brother, Son and friend Richard Duardo, while the chaotic dust of death was still settling - The Duardos were unceremoniously ordered to leave the Modern Multiples studio on Main Street while hired guards stood watch. This was beyond insult to injury and a blatantly aggressive and ambitious move and was as insulting as it was delusional and unfounded in legal foundation and process. Lisa Duardo - chosen by Richard - is the court ordered executer of Richards will - and the Familia Duardo has showed nothing but compassion, patience and generosity to all who worked at MMs who were always considered family. To be shown the door at that moment was cruel and a clear move to seize control of the sacred dojo. Richard hated this power trip stuff - and all concerned here want and need the dust to settle so that Richard can rest peacefully and transcend to the Spirit World. Today, armed with a judges signature, dedicated and loyal family and friends oversaw that the occupier of the studio was asked to leave - it was unfortunate that the signing of a major print was happening at the time with a camera crew from England but time was of the essence and things could be put off no longer - even if artists had to be inconvenienced this was not to be played out for a reality TV show it was actual life and it was death. Today was not about prints or art stars or Hollywood Elite it was about a MAN and his integrity and his Family stopping the business as usual in the sometimes brutal art world. Much will be said of today, the signing artist wasted no time is stating his displeasure - Im sorry - has that artist ever once asked what the Mother of Richard Duardo might have thought of any of this? Or any of the eight surviving siblings? No this is me first art world politics and relentless art marketing BS - and so what reality cameras were spoiled today? Reality seeped in! And just in time. Nobody is gloating here. Its a shock to come to this. But as the locksmiths change out locks I can tell you Duardo is somewhere here smiling needing to get on somewhere else perhaps but satisfied that his core familia is here by his side. AGAIN. It is a kind of justice. Social Justice, and Richards family needs to complete their grieving and they need to right this ship and settle the waters and us friends need to throw our unflinching support to them. It was a long time in coming. Hopefully we can ask ALL the artists that came thru here to let the dust fall and come back and help MMI continue on its ethical and principled path of art and culture making. This above all else is our wish in Richards name and spirit. The funny irony would not be lost on Richards amazing humor: The Mexicans are holding the keys - AGAIN!
