Teen girl killed in Phelan traffic collision Daughter of County Fire employee PHELAN — An 18-year-old Wrightwood girl killed in a traffic collision on Wednesday night has been identified as the daughter of a San Bernardino County Battalion Chief.Allison LaVogue, 18, was driving her Toyota Camry westbound on Nielson Road at 4:55 p.m., heading toward Beekley Road, California Highway Patrol officials said. For unknown reasons, authorities said LaVogue pulled out in front of a Dodge Ram towing a trailer that was northbound on Beekley Road. CHP officials said the truck was traveling about 50 mph. Authorities said the truck’s driver, identified as Raymond Ferguson, 27, of Texas, immediately applied his brakes but was unable to stop his vehicle from broadsiding the left side of LaVogue’s Camry. Both vehicles reportedly were pushed northwest on Beekley Road before they struck a telephone pole, knocking it to the ground.County Fire firefighters responded to the scene and cut LaVogue from the vehicle. A helicopter was called to transport her, as authorities said she sustained major injuries. The helicopter was later canceled, and LaVogue was transported by ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital where she later died from her injuries. LaVogue is the daughter of County Fire Battalion Chief Larry LaVogue, who serves as a chief in the Lake Arrowhead area. LaVogue has been with the department for more than 10 years and County Fire officials said he has “served throughout the department, including in the High Desert.”County Fire spokeswoman Tracey Martinez said the department will be releasing a statement on the incident Thursday afternoon.
