Teen superstars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla will be doing a remake of the hit fantasy-adventure movie Magic Temple, Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos confirmed. Star Cinema will be doing a remake of the 1996 film previously starred by Jason Salcedo, Junell Hernando and Marc Solis. The fantasy-adventure film, directed and written by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes, has been a big success during the 1996 Metro Manila Film Festival winning all of the seven nominations. The film has also won three awards from the 1997 Famas and bagged two on during the 1997 Gawad Urian Awards. Santos revealed that the Magic Temple movie remake will be top billed by the KathNiel love team. Reality Entertainment — creative people behind Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles and Kung Fu Diva — will also take over the visual effects and CGI of the film. Star Cinema is also planning to make a movie franchise out of Magic Temple saying that five sequels will be released. “We’re thinking of doing a franchise of Magic Temple na limang pelikula. ‘Pag may may Magic Temple, magkakaroon ng Magic City, etc. So five stories na tuloy-tuloy,” said Santos. Viva Films then made a sequel of the movie entitled Magic Kingdom in 1997 from the same directors and same cast but Solis was replaced by Janus del Prado.
