Teenager assaulted while walking dog, Hemlington Police are appealing for information after a teenage girl was assaulted while walking her dog near Hemlington Lake. The 17 year old was on the footpath near the back of the farm house at around 4pm yesterday, Thursday 4th December, when an unknown man approached her from behind and grabbed her. She kicked him and they both fell to the floor then the man ran off, leaving the teenager with minor cuts. The suspect is described as white, of thin build and in his early 20s. He was wearing a black waterproof jacket with the hood up, blue jeans and white trainers. While officers state this kind of attack is rare, they are reminding members of the public to take the usual precautions when walking in secluded areas as darkness falls. They would also like anyone with information on the man responsible to contact them. Please phone the non-emergency number 101, for the attention of PC Anthony Simpson.
