Teenager shot in Bermondsey Eighteen year-old Ben Purdy was shot in the eye on an estate in Bermondsey on 23 November 2014. He was taken to hospital following an incident in Mossington Gardens at around 1.55pm. Mr Purdy, who was studying plumbing at Lewisham College, was pronounced dead at 4.42pm the following day, 24 November. A 19 year-old man was also injured after being hit with a mace-type weapon, according to media reports. Detectives launched a murder investigation and said there was nothing to suggest it was gang-related. Two men were arrested and on 26 November police charged Andrew Bayne, 36 (14/12/77) of Trundleys Terrace, Lewisham, and Michael Bagnal, 21 (22/01/93) of Hospital Way, Lewisham, with murder. Bayne was also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. They are next due to appear at the Old Bailey for a case management hearing on 13 February 2015. The trial is provisionally listed for 1 June 2015.
