Teens helping teens? Rachel Harland, president of the Roseburg Interact Club of Oregon, invited Frances Dixon, Rotarian and president of Adopt-a-Village in Guatemala to speak to Interactors this morning. Roseburg High School students learned about how they could team up with Maya Jaguar High School students by helping them with a water project. The Guatemalan students have designed and built a low-cost greenhouse using local bamboo. Vegetables grown during the upcoming winter months will help stock the school kitchen, as well as provide food donations for widowed and orphaned families in nearby villages. A water source is needed to make the greenhouse functional. The Roseburg Interact Club has agreed to consider a proposal that would provide water for Guatemalan students’ self-help food project.
