Telecaster pickup search: So for a while I have been trying various pickups in my 68 maple cap tele. The original bridge pu is awesome but Ive always loved Roy Buchanan and have spent years learning his style. This pu made by Don Mare is a clone of Roys and is so close that you play one note and its there. The problem is it is so accurate that it doesnt do anything else so it is being retired. In the neck position the original pu was replaced in the 70s with a Humbucking dimarzio PAF which is good but still not ideal. Next pu I tried was an original vintage 1960 PAF Gibson, also an HB, which was fantastic but too big and warm for the sound Im after. So after trying a few others in the neck pos, mini, p-90 I am going for a Lollar Vintage T single coil, I have been assured by the man himself this will stop my search haha well see. Folks there is so much bulshit on forums about pickups, be very careful as direct experience is the only thing that takes the guess work out of it. People say oh have you tried the blah blah pickup it is awesome, then you find out they have just been reading other peoples comments. :-)
