Telegraph Nepal The Nepali Congress Vice President Ram Chandra addressing a program in Kathmandu, July 5, 2013, claimed that ‘unity and cooperation’ was required among Nepal’s political parties to get rid of the current political stalemate. The program was organized by the ‘Girija Prasad Koirala study center’ to celebrate 90th birth anniversary of Late Nepali Congress President Girija. Poudel also expressed worries that if election declared by the government could not be held as per the announced schedule, there is the possibility that politics will be totally derailed. “All the parties must come to terms over holding the election on time,” he suggested. “Koirala’s views that political parties can lose but the country cannot lose must be followed by all the political parties,” he claimed. Unfortunately, the country is the prime sufferer. The Unified Maoists’ General Secretary Posta Bahadur Bogati speaking at the program declared that Late Koirala was a politician, who always stood firm on his stands. “All the political parties need to concentrate their efforts on holding the election,” he concluded. “Koirala was the Sikhar Purush, towering persona, of Nepal’s democratic movement and a resolute political leader,” so claimed United Marxist Leninist politburo member Pradip Gyanwali. Dev Gurung of the Nepal Communist Party-Maoist also praised Koirala but he clearly indicated that election was impossible to be held under the prevailing political setup.
