Teleseminar: July 22nd at 8 p.m. (EDT) with Assisi Institute Novel Adaptations; Female Heroes for Archetypal Patterning and Alchemical work in Sense and Sensibility Dr. Susan Rowland In this first lecture Dr. Susan Rowland will discuss the creative relationship between the novel (written at the height of British struggle with the nascent American nation) and this best known film adaptation in which the actress playing Elinor, Emma Thompson, also wrote the screenplay. Such interplay on both a cultural-political level as well as a textual one deepens the resonance of archetypal patternings for female heroes in book and film (both lectures are designed to be accessible to those who only know one of these). We will look also on these works as alchemical in nature. They draw their archetypal patterning to animate matter and spirit in ways opened by the little noticed topic of "work" in the story. Register on-line - $20 individual seminar ALL Assisi teleseminars are recorded for easy playback at NO additional charge. Teleseminars are interactive if participating by phone. Playback is easily accessible at any time on your computer. assisiinstitute/-teleseminar-series.html
