Television Sydney (TVS) – position vacant Position: Indigenous Production Assistant Contract: 20 weeks Begins: August 1, 2013 • Higher Education Worker Level 2 ($42, 683 p.a, pro-‐rata) • Working on a new Indigenous television series in Western Sydney This is an identified position and applicants must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Being an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification as authorised under Section 14 (D) of the NSW Anti-‐ Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). Television Sydney (TVS) is Sydney’s only free-‐to-‐air, not-‐for-‐profit community broadcast licence holder. TVS is based at the University of Western Sydney (UWS) Werrington South Campus in western Sydney. TVS is currently working on Indigenous content and has a temporary vacancy for an Indigenous production assistant for 20 weeks, starting in August 2013. The role: The successful candidate will be an energetic self-‐starter who will be required to work as part of a small team on a project focussing on Indigenous education. You will be required to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision. You will have an interest in television and a passion for television production and documentary making. Some experience in production management would be an advantage. Selection criteria: 1. Good understanding of Indigenous society and cultural issues, and ability to deal with a range of sensitive cross cultural issues. 2. Sound communication and organisational skills, including excellent telephone skills. 3. Good research skills. 4. An understanding of what is required in relation to on-‐location shooting and organisation of crews. 5. Good record keeping and problem solving skills.
