Tell me I'm wrong... Keeping Lou and trading Schneids was the best move for the Canucks given the circumstances. Lou is a rock, a proven goaltender, who came one game shy of a cup. He has a gold medal and tonnes of playoff experience. I like how he handled the pressure of this past season, really developing a persona more relatable to the average person. Strombone1 might just be the second biggest nhl twitter handle. He still has good years left in him, perhaps 3 or 4, a little more than the window the team has. During the playoffs, I never felt that comfortable with Schneider, regardless of how poorly or well the team was playing in front of him. I think the drama of this past season and playoffs finally cracked his redhead suit of armor and broke him. The contract on Lou would have been hard to trade for anything of value. Trading Schneids bought us some young talent to help build for the future. The Aquilinis can now use the buyout to get under the cap though I think Ballard may yet rise from the ashes under Torts. Booth may be the odd one out here. At least Gillis went bold on this one, and got younger in the process on the forward line. Now about a right handed D man.
