Tell me please why someone would purchase anything in Huntington knowing it will cost 1 percent higher than from outside the city? First, you are lucky to find anything you seek, other than a fast food restaurant, or bar in Huntington, then a reasonable person can find much more outside the the City of Huntington with more convenience, and less taxes. But, the city government is spending their new found fortune on a Communication Oofficer which could be accomplished by the Elected representative. Then there are other positions not covered in this post. These hires are accomplished while promising to do what they should have done all along such as sewer and street projects. Actually many have/had federal threats of sanctions if they dont bring it to compliance; is this correct? I suppose the key work is reasonable in defining who shops outside the City of Huntington. Then there are many that will no longer shop in South Charleston until the tax matter for Charleston is finalized. What, you ask? Have you checked your sales receipts from stores in the Route 119 shopping area which I understand was annexed by Charleston while South Charleston merely looks on. My information source comes from a large so-called South Charleston sporting goods store which claimed they fall under Charlestons purview due to a thing called annexation. Please provide the skinny on this matter. Many local shops are getting more business from many of us that do NOT want to support a city having no affiliation with the aforementioned business communities. Actually, I can NOT tell you when I last shopped the Charleston Town Center. A reasonable person would consider the best buy, dont you think money in your pocket if better than hiring more of the same within local government?
