Tellina (Tellinidella) princeps Hanley, 1844 [Family: Tellinidae] - 75.3mm. Found intertidally in muddy sand at Gubernadora Island, Pacific Panama. Panama is the northern-most recorded locality according to Keen (1971) and is found as far south as Peru. The surface of the valves consists of closely spaced radiating striae crossed by equally crowded concentric grooves creating a sculpture of fine reticulations. T. princeps grows to be the Panamic regions largest and undoubtedly the most beautiful member of the genus Tellina. Photo: Richard L. Goldberg © 2014.
