July 1914: the French aviator Maurice Guillaux carried 1,785 specially prepared and numbered postcards from Melbourne to Sydney, taking 2 days 5 hours and 43 minutes. It was the longest airmail journey in the world at the time. The re-enactment will involve the Museum’s Ryan STM historic open cockpit aircraft departing Wagga and arriving in Temora about 12 midday on Sunday 13th July. The mail bag will then be handed over for the next leg of the flight to neighboring Harden before leap frogging its way to Sydney.
