Temporary Hold for New Patient Visits ~ New patient visits are allowed provided the service has not been submitted by the same physician or another physician of the same specialty within a group practice within the past three years. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has determined that Common Working File (CWF) edits used to verify this may be generating incorrect denials and/or overpayment requests. Beginning November 5, 2013, new patient visits will be temporarily held in the system until the appropriate system maintenance is complete. We expect these services to continue processing during the week of November 18, 2013. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes you.
