Temporary closure - Parry Lagoons National Park The Department - TopicsExpress

Temporary closure - Parry Lagoons National Park The Department of Parks and Wildlife wishes to advise of the pending closure of Parry Lagoons National Park, Ord River Nature Reserve and Ngamowwalem Conservation Park. These parks and reserves will be closed from 9 May to 10am 12 May 2014 so the department can undertake a prescribed burn to manage bushfire risk and for nature conservation. Motorists should take care, turn on headlights and carefully follow traffic management signs when driving through areas affected by smoke. People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstance. Prescribed burns create low-fuel areas in a mosaic of burnt and unburnt patches across the landscape, which help stem the spread of bushfires. Prescribed burning is the primary tool available to DPaW to manage fuel loads, which helps protect the community by minimising the impact of bushfires. Details of the burns are available on DPaW’s website at dpaw.wa.gov.au ________________________________________
