Ten Acrylic Painting Tips 1. Study the color wheel and play with mixing the primary colors (red, yellow, blue) to learn how to create the secondary colors, (orange, purple, green). 2. Use a WHITE plastic plate for your palette. Its disposable and shows the true color of the colors youve mixed. 3. Acrylic paint always dries darker, than it looks on your palette, and as it is applies. Once dry it is generally a one or two shades darker. 4.
