Ten Dollars, Please As my husband and I were taking a walk one - TopicsExpress

Ten Dollars, Please As my husband and I were taking a walk one day, a young boy of about five years ran up to us. “Hey,” would you like to see how a waterfall works?” he asked. “Sure,” we replied and smiled. The boy ran over to a nearby water fountain, where he had two cups. He took one cup, filled with water, and poured it into the other cup. Smiling broadly, he looked up and said, “That’ll be ten dollars, please,” and held out his hand. Rob and I laughed and told him we were sorry, but we didn’t have any money on us. Then we continued on our walk, chuckling amongst ourselves. I wonder how many of us are like this in our Christian lives? How often do we go about our business and expect a specific reward from the Lord, without ever telling Him what our needs are? “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6 The Lord wants us to talk with Him and tell Him what our requests are. That doesn’t mean our request list becomes a checklist for the Lord, however. It simply means that the avenue for blessing has been opened up. The Lord will bless you, but it may not be in the way you asked for. He knows your needs, and He knows you desire a reward. Perhaps all you really need is a cup of tea in your favorite chair as opposed to the million dollars you’re asking for. He will provide for your needs, that is a promise. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 He shall supply all our need. What a blessed promise! We just have to make sure were communicating with Him first.
