Ten score and 38 years ago, our slave-owning Forefathers of Anglo-European ancestry signed the Declaration of Independence. One of its famous precepts stated that ALL men are created equal. Obviously, those old fellas did not believe the African-American was equal. He was simply chattel or no different than cattle--just property.....not ill 1837 did slave ships stop coming to this land of our white forefathers. About that time, our wise forefathers felt it was time to screw treaties with the FIRST Americans, the native Americans, who were obviously not part of their Gods chosen, but simple savages who needed to essentially fall victim to our persistent persecution and theft of their lands.....yes, these men did not think women were equal until essentially the late 20th century and even now, women have to fight harder than men for positions high on the corporate ladder, just like African Americans....Many of modern day Americans in the SOUTH ONLYgrudgingly gave lukewarm acceptance of African-Americans as their co-equals in the in the last 30-40 years. Some still do not. In 1939 Euro-white-America did not feel Jewish Americans were created equal by their Creator for in that year on a ship called The St.Louis 800 Jews were refused entry and safety from Nazi persecution. Many had to return to Europe and suffered death in the Nazi concentration camps. ALL because apparently people called Americans felt that NOT everyone is created equal. Yes, it is the 238th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. Such a majestic document with noble principles. I just wonder how many years will it take for the current Americans to actively work to see these principles followed for ALL of us, not just the annoited ones.
