Ten things I learned from the military: 1. Dont judge a book by its cover, we all arrived as surfers, punks, gang bangers, farmers and so on. Once the heads were shaved and the uniform was on I couldnt remember who was who. 2. Dont take free time for granted. Even if its 10 seconds just to take a deep breath and relax. 3. Do something you dont think youre capable of doing. The time you feel the most alive is usually a time that is very uncomfortable. 4. Doesnt matter what others think you are capable of, only you know your true potential. 5. Dont waste your time thinking about what makes things impossible. Just make it possible. 6. No matter how screwed up you think this country is, spend six months in the middle east enough said. 7. Open your ears and shut your mouth you just may learn something. I struggled with this one the most. 8. Experience trumps education when life is on the line. Never question experience!! 9. Poop really does roll down hill. 10. Many people with the same goal and the right attitude is more powerful than anything I know of besides God. I would like to thank all the TIs, DIs and supervisors in the military. You are the Core strength of the greatest military in the world!!
