Ten things you really need to know about people studying English literature, and in general: 1. We are not walking-talking dictionaries. Its not a pleasant idea to play word-meaning MCQ with us. To keep it short, I cant help you solve the English section of a CAT paper. 2. We (like any other human being) are prone to using wrong prepositions and getting confused with spellings and pronunciations. 3. We dont just read novels, Shakespeare and Robert Frost. There are other things too, too many to be put up here. 4. No, Shakespeare didnt write novels. Also, Romantic poetry is not love poetry. 5. No, I havent read the Immortals of Meluha. 6. Believe it or not, I dont even read the editorials of The Hindu. 7. We are all not writers (Engineers do most of the writing). 8. We are not aware of all the writers born on the face of the earth. 9. We dont proofread/edit for free. 10. I cant recommend books to you.
