Ten years ago, many of us had the feeling that Isaias Afwerki (and co) wouldnt stay long. Rightly so. But again, how long is long? By then, ten years was not that long; and now, I agree with Dan Connell (geeskaafrika/eritrea-exclusive-interview-with-eritrean-security-expert/3367/) that it is a matter of 3 - 5 years. Therefore, 3 - 5 years will not be that long regardless how the expected change is going to happen. In the meanwhile, the field of Eritrean political opposition is undergoing massive process of formation and reformation. Luckily, this massive political reproduction process is happening outside Eritrea and under circumstances which do not allow violent confrontations. So far: Issues of Eritrean political history has been put into serious scrutiny. The fallacy of Eritrean national unity has been exposed. Many young politicians have been reproduced(and ongoing). Networking of various types of politicians have been created (and ongoing). Therefore, it is safe to say that Eritrean game of power struggle has entered a new phase. With that it looks like Eritreas political atmosphere is now clearer than any time before. For all who have been following the situation: There are those power mongers and there are those ignorant. There are those naive advocates of national unity and there are those hypocritical advocates of national unity. There are those hate mongers and there are those peace lovers. There are those fanatics and there are those tolerant. There are those soft spoken and there are those aggressive. Regardless how they are organized and/or gathered and whoever they represent, they are all on the field of power struggle. The time is running fast; yet, nobody seems to be sure of what Eritreas future holds for the general Eritrean public including the actors on field.
