Tena tatou katoa. Had a great day today. Whanau down for swearing - TopicsExpress

Tena tatou katoa. Had a great day today. Whanau down for swearing in as a Minister. Woke up real early as usual this morning at 5.00am, cab into office at 6.00am to tidy up. Had meetings with a few people then all headed to GGs place. The idea of being a Minister still never hit me until I was standing at the back of the line of all Ministers going in to room. Just saw Hekia in front and realised holy hell the huge responsibility I have. Two recognisable Maori perhaps include Paula Bennett. Even looking down the long table got me realising I have to work my backside off and do the best I can to get the gains for our people. It will come with working with all of them. Had first meeting with another Minister. I am green in how things are done but felt really good to be at that level and talk about what I want to do. I feel very confident in what I can do but hey... it is only day one. Great team being assembled in my office. Grateful to Pita and Tari for setting the scene. Just gotta get the rest of the team around. Thinking of those other people who have held the portfolios. Very humble to take up title. Bit hard getting use to people calling me Minister now. Thinking about all of our ones who have passed on. Te Aotuhirangi ma, Mangu ma, Hamiora, ma, hell so many. E moe koutou. Looking forward to day two and three.... Heaps to do. Just gotta get things in place. Ki te hoe. Hoea!! Thanks to Waiariki Maori Party and campaign team. Wouldnt be here with out you. Thanks also to my awesome staff. They look after me so well. Ka nui te aroha ki a koutou. Thanks to all Maori Party supporters. The Foxy lady is in the house and we are a great team. But we also have to build to 2017. The call is Success 2017 Tu Maori mai. Thats us!!! Thanks everyone for the messages. I probably cannot got to you all but appreciate of all of your notes. Ka nui nga mihi e hoa. Naku it nei Te Ururoa
