Tennessees constitution guarantees the right of all Tennesseans to have their legal cases - civill or criminal, plaintiff or defendant, heard before a judge who was elected by the people of Tennessee. But Tennessees current and previous governors - the Republican Bill Haslam and Democrat Phil Bredesen - believe that Tennesseans are too stupid to elect their judges and should no longer be entrusted with the power to vote for their own judges. So this year they are pushing Amendment 2, which would change the state constitution and take away forever the constitutional right that Tennesseans have to elect their judges. If you live in Tennessee, they are going to spend millions of dollars trying to trick you into voting away your right to vote for your judges. They will claim it is to protect the courts from being politicized, but Amendment 2 shifts the power to chose judges into the hands of the politicians. The irony is thick. To deliver the system into the hands of POLITICIANS, they will claim they are trying to protect the courts from POLITICIZATION. And to take away your right to vote they must trick you into voting to help them do it. This November, Tennesseans, Vote NO on Amendment 2. Dont fall for the politicians attempt to take over the court system. Dont vote to give up your power.
