Tennis Club Padova is hosting one of the CTC group competitions this weekend. In addition to the TC Padova, the historic Salk Klubb from Stockholm, Cesky Klub from Prague and Wienner Park Club from Vienna will take part in the competition that will consist of six singles (over 35 and 45) and three doubles (two mixed doubles and one male double) for each competition. The Tennis Club Padova deserves the international scene. - says Mr Sandro Martina, President of TC Padova - This event is a test for as, in addition to providing many services to the members, we want to enter high-level events in order to organise these competitions ourselves in our own club. So many good players, even if they are over, will take part in the competition so that they can be an example to our under 18 players, of that the world of tennis stands for; at present they are so lucky as to be able to learn from a great player as Omar Camporese”. This is TC Padovas third presence in the Centenary Club competition, after the victory of the group in Dublin in 2012 and second ranking in the finals last year at TC Parioli in Rome (the European title is biennal). Hosting a group of Centenary Club is a source of satisfaction for all of us, - says the vice-president of TC Padova Mr Michele Scapolo - a way to involve all members to share such a beautiful event. We have been carrying out a lot of action in the last few years, starting from the building of the new premise and the tennis courts that add to the prestige of tennis club and will remain in its history. After hosting many events of regional and national interest this year, from Tennisdance to Open male singles, and having led a team to Series A2, Tennis Club Padova is ready to become inernational; that will possibly start with this event which is particularly dear to the club executives. There will be the opportunity for a test case for a possible return to an international tournament as was hosted in the past: many years ago a young Marin Cilic, winner of the Us Open this year, played the early rounds of the $ 15,000 then organized in the TC Padova previous premises. This is the fourth year of the Tennis Club in the new premises. - says Mr Umberto Bressan the director of the club – We have 550 members (annual) and have organised about a hundred sports events so far, as well as many other events to be held in the near future. TC Padova wants to feature prominently as a place of reference for the sports world of Padova. We have been running well-known tennis courses and a step-program started two years ago under the name of School of the stars; the club also boasts three international investments with the association to centenary clubs that bring great prestige to it”. TC Padova team includes the ex world number 18 and Italian davisman Omar Camporese who is the technical director of the club, along with Dario Pizzato, Stefano Tacchini, Alessandro Fornaro, Michele Scapolo, Simone Martini, Marta Conean, Daniela Favaro, Anna Artuso, Morena Bacelle, and the team captain Michele Scapolo.
