Terrace School 1952-53 first grade with Mrs.Ginn: This is as well as my old brain can remember it. Can anyone add a name or comment on anything? This was us: Minnie Wheat, Charlotte Stevens, Isabell Hall, Kathleen Cameron, me, Earlene Babst, Judy McElvin, Annette Rowe, Sheryl, who was a little red haired girl who lived in the 1400 block of Adams Street. One of the little Dykes girls may have been in our class too. The boys were John Mitchell, Nolan Crowe, Richard Wilson, Kenneth Burton, Rusty Smith, Ray and Royce Davenport, Oscar Bedwell, Danny Borde, Wayne Holcolme, Rodney Lee, Billy Jones, Ardell Holland, and Jerry Hosey. Billy Jones, Earlene Babst, and Sheryl were there only for first grade. In later years we had quite a few new kids in our class from time to time: Betty Joyce Stevens, Jane Ann Ryals, Bobbie Ward, Linda Lavinghouse, Barbara Owens, Francis Thompson, Judi Jones, Rebecca King, Linda Hickman, Bill Duncan, Howard Smith, Huey Stogner, Willie Gene Riley, James Dykes, Billy Booth; and Bobbie Ward OQuinn has reminded me of Ray Varnado. A tall blond girl named Margaret was in our fourth grade class. I no doubt have made some mistakes. Please correct me. These were the people I learned to read and write with and to add and subtract and multiply and divide with, and beside them I learned to appreciate history and geography and science and music and art. They helped to civilize me, sort of. They all are an important part of my life on this earth. I was a pretty tough customer, not exactly nice and sweet. I blame that on being the youngest of five kids; I had to learn to protect myself. But my classmates tolerated me; they were nicer than they think.
