Terrified and alone, seven-year-old Eli was living off scraps that he found in garbage dumps. As a father of three, and grandfather of five, hearing stories of children like Eli deeply affects me – but witnessing firsthand the crippling effects of poverty on Israel’s children breaks my heart. Thanks to God and faithful Guardians of Israel ministry partners like you, we made a lifesaving difference in the life of Eli. Abandoned by his mother, Eli wandered the streets alone. Israeli police found this frightened and malnourished boy in clothes that were soiled and tattered. He was weak and in desperate need of food. Eli was brought to a Fellowship-sponsored children’s center, where today he’s receiving food, clothing, shelter, and education. Most important, he’s found a loving community that feels like a real home. Deuteronomy 14:29 reveals the heart of God for orphans and widows. It is with this command to help the orphan that we are also blessed: “…the orphan and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.” My prayer today is that you will be greatly blessed for joining in this holy work of caring for Israel’s orphans and others in need throughout the Holy Land with your gift to our 2013 Helping Hands Campaign. There are so many more children like Eli who need your helping hand. Please join us today and help rescue these abandoned children. With prayers for shalom, peace,
