Terrigal Nipper Carnival Report – 1 December 2013 Our second nipper carnival was held at Terrigal at the beginning of December, and after a brief shower on arrival we were lucky enough to spend the day in beautiful sunshine, with an unbelievably flat ocean. Beach conditions were perfect and all 53 Macmasters nippers were prepared for a big day of competition. Our medal haul was pretty impressive. Well done to Jenny Verster our new U8s Age Manager, who attended her first carnival, it’s always a daunting task, but you did a great job. Congratulations to Callum on 2 silvers..we know they will be gold next time, also Jade who collected silver in the U9 girls swim. The U10s didn’t disappoint with a total of 7 medal placings overall, well done to silver medalists Erin in flags and Jack in sprints. Congratulations to Poppi backing up from the previous days ironperson to win gold on the board…followed closely by Molly who picked up silver, the two of them then teamed up with Danielle to win gold in the board relay. You really are a talented and enthusiastic group. The U11 girls and boys put in a great effort in the beach relays, both teams collected silver medals with the support of a couple of U10 competitors. A special mention to Cerys in the U12 ironperson, who placed 6th – her best result to date, she also backed up from the previous days ironperson event. Finally the U13s & U14s who had fun in the water, it was great to see you there and well done to Jasmyn who took home 2 bronze medals in U14 girls flags and sprints. Our newly formed Marchpast team had a great start to the day winning silver at just their second carnival and well done to Ellie and Sari on another golden performance. It’s hard not mentioning everyone but congratulations go to those who were competing for the first time and those who entered new events or made up composite teams. All age groups did a wonderful job and although our competitor numbers were somewhat down on last year Macmasters still achieved equal 5th place with Shelly Beach in the club competition. Toowoon Bay is next on 12 January it’s always a great spot for a carnival, so enjoy Christmas and we’ll see you there! Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!
