Terry Cole, Executive Officer of the Black Watch, sat in his usual - TopicsExpress

Terry Cole, Executive Officer of the Black Watch, sat in his usual spot on the battered leather couch in the War Room, his head in his hands. The noise coming from the Mecha bays outside was deafening. Usually after a Clan War there was a week or two of relative quiet, as the pilots went through their debriefing processes, and Crew Chiefs, Mechanics and Medics got some much needed rest. But not this time. Directly outside the War Room, on the northernmost wall of the Hangar, a group of workmen were noisily dismantling the forty foot high Plasteel rendering of the Black Watch War Banner. A ten foot square section fell to the floor with a resounding crash, the noise being followed by the cheers and laughter of the workmen. A series of cleanbots whizzed into action, removing the broken segments, and dropping them into a massive Motorskip, to be taken to the nearest dumping ground and added to the other piles of garbage. Outside the War Room door, an excited group of Brotherhood leadership stood, discussing and pushing forward their own ideas as to what should replace the Black Watch War Banner. The crowing of their voices closely resembled the noise made by carrion birds fighting over a dead carcass. They had already bastardized the Clan motto, taking the original Nemo me impune lacessit, and altering it for their own purposes to read Nemo me impune lacess semper unum Terry raised his head and stood, his cheeks wet with tears, but with resolve in his hard blue eyes. He made his way across the War Room, past the many trophies the Clan and its members had won from Wars and Tournaments, and paused at the doorway. Above the door hung the Gold Medal Black Watch had won in Clan War II, its surface kept polished by each Pilots hand reaching up to touch it as they left the War Room. Raising his hand, he allowed himself one final, faltering touch of the shining emblem of his Clans fine history. Steeling himself, he left the War Room, pushed his way past the Brotherhood leadership, and walked away from his home, never to return.
