Tess was an elementary teacher at their province in Bataan; she was well respected as a teacher and sometimes feared by slacking students and which was why parents are always at her favor. She was known to give large donations at times when the public school needed it most, and even built drinking fountains for the students all from her pocket. Tess was dedicated to her profession and had much compassion with her students and co-teachers; she was known to help who is needed. But as the time progress, she was also one of those who wished to live on cities, on Metro Manila, where a better education therefore a promising future is available for her five growing kids, far from what her home province could possibly offer. They managed to move into the city and used the money she kept at her savings to start a new life, but little that she knew about the issues and complications of the life in the city. With too few job offers and expensive living necessities in the city, and her husband’s monthly salaries barely cover all of the bills they needed to pay, the only option available for her was to work as an OFW. She was dedicated to her profession, but very much more to her family, Tess decided to seek the help of her sister to guide her and get out of the country. Tess was assisted by her older sister which is also an OFW on the things she needed to have to get out of the country, even thought her what to say on the embassy to get a visa and get off the country easier than how it is regularly. From being a terror teacher, she became a babysitter for two American kids in Houston, and as expected, the month she gets from baby sitting was higher than her salary as a teacher, this was only enough for her kids to be kept at their schools, but not enough to provide them a more comfortable living, and the sadness she feels by being away from her kids was never a light burden. From time to time she gets a visit from her older sister, in America; all they had was a family of two, both of them at their 50’s, but still breaking their backs for the sake of their family. Tess intended to get pass her legal stay as a tourist and worked for a while as a TNT, but her luck for a better life by means of working outside the country was sealed when she was caught and sent home by the US embassy. With a small amount of money left from her savings, she managed to build a small store to keep an income coming somehow. With the help from her grown up children everything turned out just fine. Not a life of their dream, but enough to be able to rent a house and have three meals a day.
