Testimony for God “O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt - TopicsExpress

Testimony for God “O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.” (Isaiah 25:1) Here is a great testimony for God by the prophet Isaiah. He speaks of consecration to God, commendation for God, conquering by God, and counsels of God. Consecration to God. “O Lord, thou art my God.” This says Isaiah belongs to God. It means he will live for God, stand up for God, and be loyal to God. It is not easy to show such consecration to God in any age, for every age sheds the blood of those devoted to God. But you had better stand up for God if you want God to stand up for you. Jesus said, “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32, 33). Commendation for God. “I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name.” We need to honor God. The main purpose of man is to glorify God. We are exhorted in Scripture to glorify Him in everything we do (1 Corinthians 10:31). Note that exalting God is related to praising His name. Most people profane the name of God. But those who are devoted to Him will praise His name instead. Conquering by God. “Thou hast done wonderful things.” The context says these wonderful works involved overcoming evil nations. God conquered evil. No work is more important than overcoming evil. Today we esteem sports’ stardom, making money, and political success as great achievements. But he that overcomes evil is a greater achiever. Counsels of God. “Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.” The Bible is absolutely trustworthy. Skeptics are ever attacking the Scriptures, but God’s Word (God’s counsels) cannot be faulted for they are faithful and true. They will never lead you astray. No counsel is needed more than the counsel of God’s Word. And no counsel will help you more than the counsel of God’s Word. We can survive without the world’s counsel but not without God’s counsel.
