Testimony from James Hewitt 23/1/2014: Its never a boring night in Soho! Praise God. Did some preaching which attracted the attention of some Muslim guys. They walked over, heckling, straight into the tea, chocolate bourbons and the all-too-happy-to-chat members of our team. After sharing hospitality, the defenses were off and a few ended up having some good discussions with the guys. Come on! Walked over to a guy who was out for dinner with his son. They were very happy to stop and talk, telling me that they were Catholic. This man (lets call him Mark) knew God, and made time to find a quiet place and pray every night. I spoke to him about needing to be born-again to enter the Kingdom, that there was so much more depth to relationship with God. Dont get me wrong, there are born-again Catholics, but I felt like it was right to encourage Mark to make a full commitment to Jesus. He related to me about tough times going on in his family, his grandmothers sickness and the strain he was going under. I felt led to ask him if he wanted to be filled with the Holy Spirit, as I knew that God in him would give him far more peace in his life. Matteo, Iko and myself prayed for him. Matteo (who wasnt there during my conversation with this man) told Mark that he saw a picture of him in the quiet place, praying and seeking the Lord for help, and that God wanted to take him so much deeper. I had a picture of him in total freedom, with joy on his face. Mark was really touched by all the prayers, and left with his son, encouraged at seeing the Lords work in his life. Earlier that day, I was asking God what to expect in the time ahead, and I got the word an intrusion. In hindsight, I really feel like we made an intrusion into the enemys plans and territories last Thursday. The Gospel was getting preached in that place, and people were getting prayer. There were Muslim guys who were at our table, getting in our faces, but they began to soften as we showed them love. Not unlike sharks, some drug dealers were circling around us, eyes narrowed, asking questions, letting us know they were there. On separate occasions, I spoke to two guys who were dealing, and they both teared-up at the mention of Jesus and the Gospel. Im sure they had their own particular history with Jesus, and He hasnt given them up. To conclude, lots of ground taken from the enemy. Lots of people loved, addictions/situations/blessings/healings prayed for in Jesus name, people encouraged and the Gospel preached. God is good.
