Texarkana USA, Tuesday, May 20, 4:54 PM Distance from one place to another cannot always be measured in miles or kilometers as the case may be. And sometimes it is difficult to calculate the cost of traveling distances due to so many variables. Our concerns these days are being able to go wherever we are going economically and comfortably and as quickly as possible. We have most of the times lost the notion that getting there is half the fun...maybe because getting there is just so hard. We speak of ETAs and courses-made-good in nautical terms and soon realize that distance is a thing somewhat abstract if measured by standard means so, we speak of how long it takes to cover any distance and build into that calculation all the variables known...windage and currents included. The geometric axiom of distance---you know...what is the shortest distance between two points?...a straight line. just doesnt usually apply. Now, understand, I am one who makes plans and formulates at least to some extent, what will be required to follow that plan, but there is something that has been learned through years of ministry among the Islands, that the best of plans will usually be adjusted to a great extent, if not altogether scraped. Call it, flexibility if you will but I will add quickly to that...surrender. I can tell you that there is a different rhythm and tempo in a life lived searching for Gods will and ways. But this is what is needed among most of us. How sad is it for Christians to live at full throttle for so many years, giving little or no heed to the direction the Captain has charted? Years are so often consumed on courses that lead to no where meaningful and doing things that account for nothing really worth while and that cost more than we ever thought possible, so that in the end, there is great regret over life. Perhaps the distances have been traveled but the journey hasnt really been taken. Now, our Good Lord will let us go the distance if thats all we choose to do. But the journey with Him that is taken in surrender, will always be of far greater value. God bless you all. I am praying for you! I will post agan.
