Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Lamar Bruni Vergara Science Center Planetarium will hold an outdoor showing of the Perseids meteor shower tomorrow, Tuesday, Aug. 12 starting at 10 p.m. at the open area behind the softball field. The showing is open to the public and viewers of all ages are welcome to attend. About 60-100 meteor showers are expected to be seen per hour. The Perseids are a prolific meteor shower associated with the comet Swift-Tuttle. The Perseids are so called because the point from which they appear to come, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Perseus. Viewers are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets.
