Texas Department of Criminal Justice Corrections Officer V Christopher Davis and Corrections Officer V Eligio Garcia were killed when the prisoner transport bus they were riding in hit a patch of ice on an overpass, left the overpass, drove down an embankment, and struck a passing train. The bus was then drug along the tracks, breaking apart. The crash occurred on 1/14 on I-20 near Penwell, Texas, at approximately 7:30 am. In all, Officer Davis, Officer Garcia, and 8 inmates died in the crash. One other corrections officer and 4 inmates survived.
