Texas Governor Rick Perry is faced with a tough decision on calling up the National Guard for border patrol duty. Many of its members have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. When they are called up it presents a financial burden on their families. They have civilian jobs and would be receiving military pay which is a lot less. Another possible alternative is the appointment of hundreds of deputy sheriffs from willing volunteers, all across the state and country. Without a doubt this would have to be a huge undertaking requiring the leadership of some strong logistics experts who are specifically trained for such a task and responsibility. The National Guard Commanders could provide that leadership and expertise required. As far as I am concerned...Texans are the only ones in America with that capability and resolve to protect their own homes and state. Homeland Security and Border Patrol would not be happy that others would be doing there jobs. statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/LG/htm/LG.85.htm
