Texas Showdown 2014 was definitely one to remember. Its amazing how I got to be a part of helping create an event that united so many people together. Im exhausted, but its the kind of exhaustion where I feel complete sense of fulfillment and accomplishment. Its incredible what we can do when were all together. I loved how you incredible people came all over Texas not only to compete, but to share a part of yourselves to the rest of us. You know that when it comes to a point where youre chanting other schools chants that it doesnt really matter where you come from, but rather where you are and who youre surrounded with. Shout out to the Dream Team and LSC who exerted all their focus and energy into this event and really did go above and beyond to help the needs of others. I hope you all loved Austin as much as we do, and that you can take at least one positive thing from Showdown, or made one new friend, or made someone smile. This event made me realize how much I love all of you, and even if I dont know you or didnt talk to you, know that there really hasnt been any other instance in my life where I felt an overwhelming connection with my brothers and sisters in my faith. Blood is thicker than water, and I hope that if Showdown initiated these ties, we only grow stronger as a unifying force and build a dynamic community that others can depend on. All of you, jazak Allah for everything, and inshaAllah, well see each other next year for Showdown 15 (and inshaAllah not in Austin for a 3 peat). Hook em!
