Texas is preparing to become independent *in case* the US government falls apart, and some think this is a bad idea? You should read the comments, over at Think Progress. (Link in article) Why is preparing for an uncertain future a bad idea? Do the people who mock contingency planning, prepare for storms? Do they reassess their investments in downturns?? Do they have car/home insurance? What is the deal on the left with having contingency plans? Would they prefer states and cities just hope and pray for government assistance, like CA/Detroit? It makes no sense to mock and ridicule those who doing us all a favor, by being responsible and prepared, thus not sucking more federal taxes out of the system.
