Texas politics just got fun, again :-) For my non-Texas - TopicsExpress

Texas politics just got fun, again :-) For my non-Texas friends, heres a summary of whats going on. 1. Texas is (for the moment) safely Republican. 2. The state capitol, Austin, is in Travis County, a staunchly Democrat county. 3. The DA of Travis County has the authority to bring charges against state politicians That sets up a Red/Blue battle of epic proportions. Last year the Travis County DA, Rosemary Lehmberg (D) was arrested for DUI. The video shows her arrest. She was violent and abusive during her processing. youtu.be/JrxsCH_p1oc Governor Rick Perry (R) called for her resignation and she refused (DA is an elected office). There is no recall procedure in Travis County. The issue being that if the Democrat Lehmberg resigned, Perry would likely have appointed a Republican to the job. When she failed to resign, he vetoed funding to the Public Integrity Office, which works with the Travis County DA to fight political corruption, targeting high ranking Republicans in the past. The grand jury was all Austin residents, but the case will be held in my home County (Williamson), with Bret Richardson, A Republican, presiding. The TV news was speculating that this was good news for Ted Cruz (R), because it may help him win the Republican Party Presidential Primary in 2016. I bet the Democrats in Travis County would just love having President Ted Cruz. :-) In the meantime, Im supposed to be happy that the woman in this video is still in charge of safe guarding the Integrity of the Public in Texas.
