Texas’ new voter ID law is one of several such laws passed - TopicsExpress

Texas’ new voter ID law is one of several such laws passed around the country that disproportionately disenfranchise low-income voters, people of color, students, and the elderly. But if that werent enough cause for concern, now theres evidence that the law will also make it harder for women and trans* people to vote. Common ID discrepancies—like name changes as the result of marriage or divorce—will cause additional delays and hassles in a process that already makes it difficult for many people to vote. This trend is unacceptable—we should be making it easier, not harder, for Americans to exercise their right to vote.
