In the wake of last months viral video of a mountain biker being chased by a terrifying (but fake) bear, we were admittedly skeptical about the authenticity of any new cyclist vs. wildlife clips. But while this video is no less shocking, it also appears to be quite a bit more believable. Silas Patlove says he was riding on Alexander Avenue toward Sausalito, California, when a deer unexpectedly leapt over the railing and into his path. Although what happened next could have gone a lot worse, the video footage he captured of the impact shows one of the most disastrous outcomes of a cyclist-meets-woodland-creature encounter. Luckily Patlove survived the incident relatively unscathed. “Although I don’t remember it, I landed on my back, and hit the back of my Giro helmet, which probably saved me from serious brain injury, he said. “I am very grateful to have escaped feeling only a little banged up.” No word on the current condition of the deer, who was unfortunately not wearing his own action cam. https://youtube/watch?v=Z8uCeyUl_9U
