Thailand Bronze statue of Phra Sangkachai 19th possibly 18th century. He was a diciple of Buddha. Buddha is said to have praised him for his ability to explain Dharma in a correct and easily understandable way. Folklore has it that he was so handsome that Angels and people compared him with Buddha. Phra Sangkachai considered this innapropriate, so he transformed himself into a fat Buddha. This antique bronze measures 8 1/4 X 7 3/4 and is in excellent condition with a rich original old patina.
