Thailand Coup 23/05/2014. PIAC Travel Advice. PIAC clients and agencies are advised that on 22 May the Thai Military announced that it 1. had taken control of the administration of Thailand 2. that martial law continues to be imposed 3. a nationwide curfew is in place from 2200hrs and 0500 hrs. nationwide until further notice PIAC and Phuket International Airport continue to operate normally and we do not foresee that the coup will have any significant effect on travel or PIAC operations. Unconfirmed reports indicate that a nationwide curfew will be lifted in the next few days and the Thai authorities have confirmed that the curfew will not apply if travelling to and from the airport. PIAC clients and agencies are further advised to monitor the media for updates and for Australian clients, to monitor www2.smartraveller.gov.au/SiteAssets/Thailand/index.htm for updated advice regarding travel. The current travel advise from the Australian Government is for tourists to exercise a high degree of caution. The Australian Government has not advised clients to reconsider their travel nor have they advised Australian Citizens not to travel to Thailand. Clients from other countries are advised to review any travel restrictions or advise as provided by their respective countries travel advise. Updated information will be provided by PIAC on our Facebook page and clients/agencies can contact PIAC at any time for additional information. In summary 1. PIAC is operating normally and we do not envisage any disruption to clients surgery or travel plans 2. Clients should contact PIAC for additional information and continue to monitor the media for updated developments
