Thames St Reconstruction Update After a dry summer in which much progress was made, the weather is interfering with the last stages of this year’s work on Thames Street. If the weather cooperates, paving on Thames Street should begin next Monday. A base coat will go down on the entire southern portion of the street. A second coat will go down on the street from Ledyard Avenue to an area just north of Baker Avenue. Sidewalks will be completed with the exception of the area from Ledyard Avenue to Smith Street. In Spring the final portion of the sidewalk will be completed, the last 58 feet of drainage pipe will be installed near the intersection of Thames Street and Eastern Point Road, and the final portions of Thames Street will receive their second coat. Until the paving is completed, the southern portion of Thames Street will be closed to thru traffic. Residents and customers of local businesses will be able to access their destinations. We understand that the construction process causes inconvenience, and we appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone involved. We look forward to the benefits of a newly constructed road.
