Thank God (Read - Supreme Court), there will be no immediate arrests of suspects in Dowry related cases henceforward. The noble provisions of Dowry Prohibition Act appear to have been abused so much, that many failed marriage relationships have turned into dowry harassment cases. Possibly, some family lawyers may be inducing their clients to file such frivolous cases of harassment to strengthen their cases of Divorce on the grounds of Cruelty (Refer section 13(1)(1a) of Hindu Marriage Act). The aforesaid directions of SC have come as a relief to many, who are getting victimised for no fault of theirs.
